In the last 50 years:
For 37 years, I have been a Professor of Physics at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. I teach exclusively undergraduates and involve them in my research program in atomic physics and Laser Spectroscopy. My colleagues and I have built a strong program in physics here at Lawrence. My wife, Caroline, is a violinist and music educator. My two sons, David and Philip, live in the east - one is a Russian Historian at the University of Richmond while the other is a Vice President at Lehman Brothers. We have spent sabbatical leaves in Boston (at Harvard and M.I.T.) and Oxford, England. We travel extensively, mainly to Europe. I will retire in 1 year and spend more time on a childhood hobby of O-gauge electric trains.
